There are many practical reasons why a person will nee to see a plastic surgeon and most of them are due to injuries sustained that require some type of surgical intervention.

· One of the most common practical instances is the nose job or rhinoplasty, although many people think it is for cosmetic reasons only, there are many people that get this surgery due to poor self esteem and deviated septum which cause trouble breathing through the nose. · Eyelid lifts- this surgery is very important when the skin of the upper eyelid is sagging down over the iris and pupil of the eyeball causing the sufferer difficulties reading and even driving or performing every day activities.

· Another practical instance of cosmetic surgery is the tummy tuck. Many women and men also, choose to have this done when there is excess fat on the belly that cannot be removed in any other way.

· Scars are also instances of plastic surgery that you may not even realize is done, especially if done on the face. Many people that have had to have skin cancer removed will have to see a plastic surgeon to be able to cover the scar that would otherwise disfigure the face.

As you can see not all plastic surgery is done for looks, many surgeries are performed to fix an otherwise disfiguring problem and can greatly increase the self esteem of a person.
